Compare Phone Notch Size
I am happy to announce that I've released a brand new tool that allows you to compare the sizes of phone's notches. It's a separate comparison tool where you can choose two mobile phones and see how their notch compares in terms of size and design.
The images of the phones are aligned so the notches are placed right beside each other, so you can clearly see how the two are compared.
The notch size is calculated based on its largest width and largest height. This means that the width and height are calculated so they include all the protruding part of the notch, even if it's small, every protruded area are included in the calculation.
I've also added some statistics below the images, so you get to know exactly how large or small a particular phone's notch is compared to the other one. It's important to keep in mind that these numbers are estimates and because they are based on manual measurement of the images, we can ensure 100% accuracy.
This notch comparison tool is currently in beta and I am working to add more features to it. Keep in mind that there might be some bugs. If you find any bug or inaccuracies, please let me know and I'll do my best to correct it as soon as possible.
<[>At the bottom of the page, you can also found a few tables that show you the list of phones with the smallest notch sizes, the list of phones with the largest notch sizes and the newest phones with a notch. Keep in mind that those lists are based on the data that we have and there might be other phones that yet to be added and won't appear on the list. Although I do my best to make sure that most of the latest phones (those with the notch) are added to the database soon after they are announced/released.
As of the time of writing, the phone with the biggest notch is the Google Pixel 3 XL. It's funny though, because when I first saw this notch, I wrote on one of the YouTube videos that I think this is the biggest notch on a phone ever, and based on my calculations here, this is indeed the case.
Furthermore, as of the time of writing, the phone with the smallest notch (area size based) is the ZTE Nubia Z17. Indeed, if you take a look at this phone you can see that it has a very tiny notch that includes just a front-facing camera and nothing more.
Here is an image that shows the Google Pixel 3 XL notch in comparison to the newly announced Huawei Mate 20 Pro's notch. Based on our calculation, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro notch is approx. 34.01 x 4.80 mm in size. The Google Pixel 3 XL notch size is, based on our calculation, 30.5 x 8.5 mm in size. The Google Pixel 3 XL notch is 1.11 times (percentage increase: 10.2%) narrower (by 3.5mm) than the Huawei Mate 20 Pro notch.
You can click this image to view it in the notch comparison page.
Of course, you are free to check out other phones. Keep in mind that in that particular notch comparison tool, you can only search for phones that have a notch. In the standard phone comparison tool you can compare all of the mobile phones listed in our database, but that comparison is for the entire phone, not the notch.
