Nokia 7.1

Nokia 7.1 vs Nokia 7 Plus, 6 (2018), 6.1 Plus and X6

Nokia 7.1 was announced today, October 4th, 2018 by HMD Global. The new Nokia 7.1 features a 5.84" 19:9 aspect ratio display and it does come with a notch at the top. The notch is relatively small, which kind of reminds me of teh notch on my OnePlus 6.

In the image below (click to view in the comparison page), you can see how the Nokia 7.1 compared to the Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6 (2018), Noia 6.1 Plus and Nokia X6

In terms of design, Nokia made sure it has Nokia's signature. The phone has a glass front and back and shaped at the edges for comfort, but also give the phone it's unique look. The Nokia 7.1 is made of 6000 series aluminum frame and comes with diamond-cut colored chamfers, which yet again, give the phone a nice accent and make it look different than all those iPhone-like designed smartphones.

The back features a dual camera system with a primary 12MP/5MP dual-sensor rear camera with ZEISS optics. The cameras are aligned vertically and centered, also something that makes the phone look like a Nokia phone. The Nokia logo is embedded in the back with a fingerprint reader just below the camera compartment. The phone's back does remind me of the Nokia X6 back, very similar design.

The Nokia 7.1 has rounded corners on both the top and bottom. The notch isn't large and allows display of notifications.

On the less positive side, the phone does have a large bottom bezel, which gives the phone a nonsymmetric look when viewed from the front. The bottom bezel also comes with a Nokia log.

In terms of size, the Nokia 7.1 is slightly larger than the Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 6.1 Plus, Nokia X6 and the Nokia 3.1, but it's smaller than the Nokia 7 Plus by quite a bit.

In comparison to the Nokia 6.1 Plus, the Nokia 7.1 is 0.2mm wider, 2.5mm taller than the Nokia 6.1 Plus both have the same depth. The big difference between the two is obviously the screen. The 7.1 comes with a 5.84-inch display with a notch and the Nokia 6 )2018) comes with a 5.50-inch display.

The Nokia 7.1 defeintelly has a modern updated design similar to the Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia X6.

Overall the design is good for a mid-range offering, especially the back which I personally really like. You can, of course, compare the Nokia 7.1 yourself using our comparison tool to see how it looks like versus other Android phones and of course versus Apple's iPhone.
